1. All participants highly commend the achievements of the first phase of the "Taiwan-Philippines VOTE International Cooperation Project" (implemented from September 2016 for a period of 3 years). These accomplishments include: (1) Strengthening typhoon observation and developing satellite, radar, and inversion technologies for typhoon rainfall and wind field, (2) Improving radar data assimilation methods and numerical forecasting systems, (3) Developing forecasting indicators and verification systems, (4) Advancements in tidal and sea wave forecasting technologies, (5) Two-week trend forecasts for climate precipitation scales and climate service programs. 2. During the meeting, discussions and exchanges took place regarding future collaboration directions. Both Taiwan and the Philippines agreed to continue enhancing collaboration in various aspects such as typhoon monitoring and forecasting, Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP), climate, marine conditions, and more. 3. After the conclusion of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are plans to facilitate personnel exchanges, bilateral meetings, workshops, or seminars. 4. Assign specific project contact points separately: Central Weather Bureau: Deputy Researcher Chen De-Song National Taiwan University: Dr. Chung Chi-chun, Miss Fan Ya-rou PAGASA : Mr. Lorenzo Moron |
| 2022年05-23 | Taiwan-Philippines VOTE Second Bilateral Meeting | Online Meetings | In the past, Taiwan-Philippines cooperation has yielded positive results through education, training, and conference discussions. The Philippines has benefited from our data integration, forecasting, and analysis techniques, while we have gained valuable observational data from the Philippines. Several academic contributions have been made through published articles during the collaborative process. This project was granted a special session at the AOGS International Conference in August 2022, providing an opportunity for researchers to share past collaborative research achievements and future development plans. Starting in June 2022, we will continue relevant education and training based on the needs of the Philippines. By the end of 2022 or early 2023, once the pandemic situation improves, bilateral visits will take place. The third bilateral meeting is scheduled for April 2023. The research and development outcomes of the bilateral cooperation in 2022 will also be shared at the 2023 AOGS Conference. |
